MCAP Assessment
STUDENTS TAKE THE MCAP ASSESSMENT AT THE COMPLETION OF ENGLISH II. PASSING THIS ASSESSMENT IS A GRADUATION REQUIREMENT.
WE ARE WORKING TOWARDS THE MAJORITY OF OUR STUDENTS SCORING AT LEAST A 3 on this assessment..
Culminating Writing Tasks
In English students are expected to read a novel each quarter. At the end of the novel they are to complete a written task. The task is to write an essay or narrative depending on the quarter. Teachers will facilitate the completion of this task during class time, but students may be required to finish portions at home to ensure the task is turned in on time.
Interim Assessments
Students will take two interim assessments per quarter. Both tests will be aligned with the MCCRS standards and MCAP-like. One of these assessments will focus on a warm read (a portion they have not read of the core text for that unit) and the other will focus on a cold read (a text they have never read).
